The MFL department aims to provide intellectual stimulation, enjoyment and a sense of achievement and to encourage social interaction through an emphasis on communication, and to offer insights into the culture and civilisation of the countries where the language is spoken.

The Languages Department occupies four specialist rooms. All rooms are equipped with projectors. The Languages Office also houses banks of teaching resources and the Department also has the services of a French Assistant.

All students are taught in mixed ability groups. Students in years 7 and 8 study French and Spanish and are currently using Studio and ViVa as their main course book.

Please see below for more information on KS3.

In year 8, students can opt to study GCSE French or Spanish. The syllabus followed is provided by AQA and all four attainment skills are tested. Listening (25%), Reading (25%), Speaking (25%), Writing (25%)
