  • Summer project

Students should complete the summer project over the holidays and bring it to the academy on their first day, Friday 2nd September.

Transition KS2 to KS3

Transition from primary to secondary school is an important and exciting moment in the life of any child.

Before your child joins us, their primary school teacher will receive a visit from the Head of Year 7 to go through each child's strengths and weaknesses as well as any special considerations they may have. We also hold a New Intake Day in July where primary school pupils, who will be joining us the following September, may come and taste some secondary school lessons and meet some teachers as well as their future classmates.

We have a very strong pastoral team as well as a wonderful mentoring department at the academy, all of whom are very familiar with dealing with pupils who may be nervous during the first few weeks. We often appoint peer buddies from older year groups to help acclimatise some of our more reticent new starters.

In late September, we hold a Settling In Evening where parents will meet their child's form tutor and get a chance to discuss how each child has settled in.

Here at The Palmer Catholic Academy we are committed to providing quality first teaching as well as building effective relationships with your child that will benefit their education from the day they join us.
